Katie Mills

Some people were Disney fans, and some people were Nickelodeon fans. However, why is nobody talking about how the old Disney Channel was many times better?

Many people grew up watching the Disney Channel classics. Children’s lives were full of “That’s So Raven,” “Lizzie McGuire,” “The Suite Life of Zack and Cody” and “Even Stevens.” These shows were always relatable and spread good and positive messages.

However, these days Disney Channel is filling up their show list with a mess of random shows like, “Bizzardvark” and “Bunk’d” and “Stuck in the Middle.” Sadly, these shows are less relatable and less satisfying in general. More…

Everyone knows of the phenomenon It by Stephen King. The original film was produced in 1990, but times have changed a lot since then. Special effects are more advanced, and the characters are far more complex in the remake.

Pennywise has a far more sinister edge, marked by piercing yellow eyes and contorted movements, while it made the 1990’s Pennywise look cartoonish. Bill Skarsgård who plays Pennywise, said he even frightened the kids who were cast.

In addition, it came out close to Halloween, which made it even spookier.

The Outsiders— It’s been deemed the first true young adult novel, it’s the first book to lead to the bestowing of a School Library Journal Author Achievement Award (My goodness, that’s a long title!), and it was actually written based on the upbringing of famed author S.E. Hinton.

Since it recently celebrated its 50th anniversary, let’s get to know a bit more about its background.

Hinton grew up in a small Oklahoman town as someone her book describes as a “greaser.” In fact, the opening scene in which she describes a young boy getting jumped and threatened by Socs was inspired by a similar event taking place at her high school. She says she still feel uncomfortable in many social situations because her hometown was so divided. More…

Records Album Recognition 2

Record album covers are a grand way for a musical artist to express themselves and their art form. There are a few albums individually worth acknowledging. Most albums don’t have a deep meaning. The following albums, though, are quite spectacular and generate questions as to why the artists made the decisions they made.

At number one, we have Michael Jackson’s “Dangerous” 1991. Released November 26th, this album took over a year to produce. The album expresses social issues such as poverty, racism, romance, and also self-improvement. They had planned to make a music video for the song “Dangerous, ” but that was postponed due to problems in Michael Jackson’s personal life. More…
