This year, Girl Power takes place during lunch, on Wednesdays, where girls from all grades can come to eat lunch and explore the life of girls today. They meet at G2A with friends while they discuss what is going on in their lives.
Girl Power stands for goals, individuality, respect, loyalty, potential, optimism, will, empathy, and responsibility. In Girl Power, they watch videos on bullying, beauty standards, and the reality of a girl.
The participants also do art projects, give each other compliments, and keep everything positive. Members stay honest with everyone and talk about what is yet to come in the future.
Mrs. Mondt makes them feel safe and comfortable. She also encourages them to share what is going on in their lives.
Mrs. Mondt stated that Girl Power, “empowers girls to make them confident and help them go far in life in jobs and their future.” Mrs. Mondt also thinks that Girl Power will boost confidence.
Mrs. Mondt also thinks that this group will help girls stay more focused and push peer pressure out of their lives.
Girl Power has been going on for more than ten years, and Mrs. Mondt taught it with another teacher for a few years, then it was handed over to Mrs. Mondt.
One student from Girl Power says, “Girl Power is a great way to make more friends and gain more self-confidence,”
Overall, Girl Power is a great way to gain more self-confidence and find a way to believe in yourself to help throughout life. So, if any girl that thinks this would be helpful, she should join!
