We all love talking to our best friends, right? Now, admit it, we’ve all talked to some of our friends in class at least once when we weren’t supposed to. That is just middle school.
Now, what about with an online system called “Discord”? Discord was released March 6, 2015. It is very popular among most of our Stacey students. According to discord’s main office, “As of December 2017, there were about 87 million unique users of the software.” That is insane.
Discord is an app where you can talk to your friends in chat rooms, call them, or even listen to music. How fun does that sound? You can create private or public servers for any number of friends.
Some Stacey students had taken advantage by using the unblocked website to communicate with their friends in other classes before the site was blocked.
Most of the students that were doing this were caught. However, there are “unblocked” websites that still contain Discord.
Students, please DO NOT use Discord in class as you WILL be caught by your teacher or an administrator. Stacey staff does not want you using this site in class.
Well, Stacey students, stay cyber safe always! That is all I have for this week. Until next time my wonderful Cougars, have a safe and excellent week!
Hey Mariah, hop on in xD

Discord is awesome. I don’t understand why they would block it if the students were just talking to their friends.

Maybe it’s because Discord is distracting or because they were using it to cheat or because those are just some strict teachers.

In response, teachers requested a block of discord because some students were using discord via the main website while their classes were in progress… thus they were distracted from their learning sessions to talk with friends instead. The teachers have no problems with students using discord at home during their own time. It was just those students who ruined it for everyone.
