According to the latest Billboard Top 100, these are your top ten songs for the week.
Tenth place: “Stir Fry” by Migos. We welcome this funky bop with open arms. It can be said that it is funkier and more rhythmically complex than any song Migos had previously tackled.
Ninth place: “All The Stars” by Kendrick Lamar and SZA. Last week it was in place 31, it has certainly risen to the top. It is most recognizable from the new Marvel blockbuster, Black Panther.
Eighth place: “New Rules” by Dua Lipa. “I’ve got new rules, I count ’em.” This tune has probably been stuck in your head for a while. Sadly, the trendy empowering song has gone down on the charts. Last Musical Monday it was number seven.
Seventh place: “Meant To Be” by Bebe Rexha featuring Florida Georgia Line. The country-pop tune is a great addition to the top ten list. Its harmonizing can be recalled as clean and nice. Many also enjoy that its a mixture of county and pop.
Sixth place: “Look Alive” by BlocBoy featuring Drake. This song also features mild profanity.
“I mean it’s a great bop, but its pretty basic,” says Kylie Brennan, an eighth-grader.
Fifth Place: “Rockstar” by Post-Malone featuring 21 Savage. This song hasn’t gone up or down on the charts. With the catchy hook, memorable dark beat, and historically accurate lyrics, we sure hope it doesn’t leave the top ten.
Fourth Place: “Havana” by Camila Cabello featuring Young Thug. Yay! It seems Havana isn’t leaving the charts for a while. With its catchy latin tune, and uplifting rapping, how could listeners not be obsessed!
Third Place: “Finesse” by Bruno Mars and Cardi B. Finesse sticks the spot of third place, its peak position all around. Do you think this 90’s grunge flashback will rise or lower on the stats?
Second Place: “Perfect” by Ed Sheeran. This lovely “heart-throbbing” song has been second on the charts for two weeks. Listeners can guess that it won’t be leaving the top three anytime soon.
Now is the moment you’ve been so patiently awaiting: The number one song.
And this weeks top ten song is. . .
“God’s Plan” by Drake. God’s Plan is once again number one! For someone who began his music career 10 years ago, Drake should be congratulated for keeping listeners captivated. Go on, give Drake some snaps. He’s earned it.
That’s all for this week, Cougars! Were you surprised by the charts? Well, tune in for the next Musical Monday!
