Stacey’s Broadcast Journalism team wants to see how good of a writer you are. Starting Wednesday, January 31, enter Journalism’s writing contest for a chance to get published in the Cougar Chronicle and get an award on stage at one of our Cougar Pride assemblies. Stacey’s Broadcast Journalism team will be picking a winner from each grade.

What will we be writing about?

Well, the journalism crew voted, and the genre of the stories will be action and adventure. Create your own characters, character struggles, and plots. The journalism students want to be able to read a fun and creative story made by some of the best writers at Stacey.

Here are the criteria for your story:

  • Heading must have your full name (Last, First) and grade level
  • Must be written by only one person
  • Must have a genre of action and adventure
  • Minimum of 500 words and maximum of 1000 words
  • Must be turned in to B-3 by February 14th

Remember to be creative.

The Stacey journalism students will be judging the contest for each grade. Winners will be posted in the Cougar Chronicle and announced on stage at one of our Cougar Pride assemblies. The winner will be presented with a certificate and will be rewarded with applause from all their peers. Remember, the journalism students will be checking to make sure you have proper spelling, grammar, and punctuation. If you feel unsure about turning it in, have a peer read it.

If your language arts teacher makes this story contest a requirement in their class, you are still only allowed to turn in one story.

If you have any questions, feel free to come to B-3 and ask Ms. Walters or one of the journalism students.

HAVE FUN!

I’ll make a story about a guy who wants proper grammar and spelling everywhere while the other guy wants to use improper grammar and abbreviations.

  2. Yes, if you do not write a story with the listed genre (Action and adventure) your story will quickly be turned down by the journalism team, therefore your story would be illegible. 🙂

  3. Also, I just want to say, one thing that I am personally looking for is creativity, I am looking for an entry that can create a whole new world of story and adventure, good luck!

Are you the only person that will be judging or everybody in Journalism?
