The Golden Globes have passed, and there has been a surprising amount of buzz around Oprah’s speech, as you may expect since Oprah is the first black woman to accept the Cecil B. DeMille award in the history of the Golden Globes. Men and women of all colors were moved by what she said during her acceptance speech, and some have surprisingly gone far enough to say she should run for president.

It is only natural to be curious what exactly she said that got her this much attention. To see for yourself, you can watch it in its entirety here; Oprah’s Golden Globes Speech.

Oprah used her speech as an opportunity to speak out about the rights of women, and about how the sexual abuse and harassment not only in Hollywood but in the world, is beyond toxic. She obviously believes that the harassment and assault discussed lately is disgusting, and a lot of people are happy to hear someone finally talking about it. More…

It seems like we’re moving on from the memes and internet trends of 2017 and moving on to new ones. It’s kind of sad to get rid of some of the greatest ones. Internet memes have taken a huge rise in the past few years, as well as fidget spinners, slime, and so many more trendy teen toys.

One of these huge internet memes of 2017 was a vine. Yes, we all know that Vine died a long time ago. However, one of these vines, “Guacamole” seems to be carrying on in its popularity and becoming more and more popular by the weeks.

What is it? Well, it is kinda strange. All it is is an old woman singing a song about guacamole. Obviously, Vines are short so it’s only about five seconds long. If you want to watch it, here you go..

What’s the problem with Net Neutrality? 1

When anyone goes online, they have certain expectations: to be connected to whatever website they want, that cable or phone companies aren’t messing with the data and are connecting to all websites, applications, and content chosen, as well as to be in control of their internet experience. So when they are using the internet, they are expecting something called Net Neutrality.

So What Is Net Neutrality?

Net Neutrality preserves our right to communicate freely online. Net Neutrality means an internet that enables and protects free speech. It means that internet service providers (ISPs) should provide us with open networks — and shouldn’t block or discriminate against any applications or content that ride over those networks. Many liken it to the common expectation that your phone company shouldn’t decide who you call or what you say on that call. More…

Hello, my pretties!

Did you all enjoy Winter Break? I hope so. Go ahead and tell me your favorite part in the comments!

Anyways, we’re back now and, as such, we’ve got a lot on our plate this week.

Builder’s Club meets Tuesday. Gavin Mercado, the treasurer of the club, says they have some great games planned, so be sure to swing by.

Cougars for Christ will be meeting this Friday, as will Anime Club.

Okay, now here’s what I’m really excited to tell you… We have a new club here at Stacey, started by ME. It’s called the Gay-Straight Alliance and, though it’s common in high schools, most middle schools lack it. Now, it’s coming to Stacey. Our first meeting will be this Wednesday. Something special awaits those who come.

Well, that’s all for now, Cougars! May 2018 bring you magnificent things!

P.S. It’s Universal Letter Writing Week. It may seem a bit archaic, but it’s also a great way to reflect. Just give it a try. I’ll see you all next week!
