If you were hanging around the Disney “News Channels” on YouTube in mid-July, you would know what was announced at the 2017 D23 Expo. One of the many things announced was the long-rumored Pixar Pier.
According to Disney, the current Paradise Pier is set to close early January just as The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror did last year.
Not too long ago Disney released artwork (shown above) of what Pixar Pier is going to look like. The land will be split into two parts. There will be Paradise Bay, with the following rides, Silly Symphony Swings, Jumpin Jellyfish, Goofy’s Sky School, Golden Zephyr, and The Little Mermaid: Ariel’s Undersea Adventure.
However, California Screamin, King Triton’s Carousel, Mickey’s Fun Wheel, and Toy Story Midway Mania are all set to close in early January. But don’t worry Toy Story Midway Mania fans, this attraction will reopen along with the rest of Pixar Pier. Rides that we will not see at Pixar Pier are Mickey’s Fun Wheel, California Screamin’, and King Triton’s Carousel.
You may be wondering, what do we know about Pixar Pier so far? Well, Disney has announced the Incredicoaster. However, there isn’t much information aside from that. From the artwork, we can see an Inside Out themed attraction. No information has been spilled about this attraction yet.
In the middle of the land, we can see a Mickey’s Fun Wheel “re-theme.” Don’t worry, there will still be the Ferris wheel with brand new Pixar themed gondolas. The last thing in the artwork is next to the Incredicoaster entrance. This seems to be a Toy Story attraction because a Jessie figure is standing outside of the attraction. This attraction is in the place of what is now King Triton’s Carousel.
That is all we know for now about this new land, but the real question is, what will these rides bring to Disney’s California Adventure? Will they be popular? I guess we’ll just have to sit down and wait until the summer of 2018. Until next time, have a great week!
