What even is Builders Club?
Builders Club is a new club here at Stacey, and it is a student-led service organization. Ms. Walters decided to advise Builders Club because it is similar to clubs you may participate in later on in High School such as Kiwins, and Key Club. These can be joined by students that attend Marina High School. If attending another high school, check the online website of that school for the clubs that they have listed and provided, depending on the high school or college you are attending.
Builders Club gives students the opportunity to develop leadership and character through community service. In this club, you may help out around the community, clean up around the campus, prepare for your transition to high school with familiar and welcoming faces, build friendships, and meet people from a sponsoring high school club.
Who is in charge of this club?
Ms. Walters is the teacher advising this club, but the board, made up of students, runs the club. The president is Rachel Nguyen and the vice president is Thao Le. The Secretary is Kelsey Bisetti, the treasurer is Gavin Mercado and the editor is Kevin Luu.
Where does this club meet?
It meets in room B3. The next meeting will be November 28th.
When does this club meet?
Every other week on Tuesday directly after school from 2:45 till 3:15.
What do you do in this club?
In this club, you may help out around the community, prepare for your transition to high school with familiar and welcoming faces, build friendships, and meet people from a sponsoring high school club, Kiwins.
How many students are expected to be in this club?
Over 30 students showed up to the first official meeting on Nov. 7th.
How long do the meetings run?
Meetings go on for about a half an hour, but it may run overtime depending on what needs to be done.
How does Builders Club relate to NJHS?
In some ways, there is an overlap between NJHS and Builders Club because both of the clubs involve students participating in service projects, One difference would be that NJHS has academic requirements and Builders Club does not, but they are both a national organization.
How does Builders Club relate to other clubs in high school and in the future?
In middle school, it is called Builders club, but once you go on to high school there is a Kiwins and Key Club.
Will this club help me get into college?
Yes, Builders Club looks great on college applications. Colleges look for students who do things above and beyond just academics. Anything you can put on a college application that shows that you were involved in community service makes you look good. Clubs like Builders Club, Kiwins, and Key Club show that you are into your community and that is a way to distinguish yourself from other students, and it will make you look better rounded and stand out.
