Everyone goes through stress, whether it be from school or things at home. It occurs at multiple points in people’s lives. Here’s some tips and tricks to identify and avoid stress.

There are numerous emotional and physical disorders that have been linked to stress including depression, anxiety, heart attacks, stroke, hypertension, immune system disturbances that increase susceptibility to infections. But don’t worry. Stress can be scary, but sometimes, all it takes is a deep breath and a break from whatever may be putting the strain on the mind and body.

If one feels like they may be overworked, then here are some tips to take their mind off whatever may be bothering them:

  1. Take deep breaths
  2. Talk to a trustworthy someone about the issue
  3. Try to avoid stimulants like caffeine
  4. Make time for an enjoyable activity  
  5. Take up a creative hobby, one that requires a little effort but will calm the nerves as focus reverts to something else.

If one has many serious symptoms like insomnia or light-headedness, then many sources like the American Institute Of Stress and The Medical Media agree that it’s smart to see a doctor and talk to them about what may be causing this.
