The Grammy’s was hosted by LL Cool J this year in the Staples Center on last Monday Night. Awards such as record of the year, best album of the year, and best music video are just some of the awards that were given out this year.
One much talked about event at the Grammy’s was Taylor Swift’s acceptance speech after winning album of the year with “1989”. She said, “As the first woman to win album of the year at the Grammys twice, I want to say to all the young women out there, there are going to be people along the way who will try to undercut your success.”
Then she added, “But if you just focus on the work and you don’t let those people sidetrack you, someday, when you get where you’re going, you’ll know it is you and the people who love you who put you there.”
Another young lady that won a Grammy Monday night was Meghan Trainor. Her speech was short, but it was rather touching to watch because she cried the whole time.
The Weekend was nominated for seven awards and won two in R&B performance for “Earned It (Fifty Shades of Grey)” and urban contemporary album for Beauty Behind the Madness.
Ed Sheeran finally won song of the year for his song “ Thinking Out Loud” after being nominated in past years and losing.
Kendrick Lamar was nominated for eleven awards, which is one award short to breaking Michael Jackson’s record. Although he didn’t break the record he did win best rap album of the year and gave one of the best live Grammy performances ever.
Kendrick is one of the best rappers of this generation. To Pimp A Butterfly was dope.
