On Friday, January 15, Ms. Thach and 12 members of the garden club opened their first farmer’s market after school. After completely selling out of their veggies, they had earned a profit of 50 dollars. They will be using these funds to buy more supplies to keep the club growing.
Ms. Thach stated, “This farmer’s market was made possible by a grant from Assistance League of Huntington Beach.” She is very proud of what the club has accomplished.
Seventh grader, Evelyn McCready said, “It was fun to sell what we grew ourselves.“
Alexis Beruldsen, a 7th grader stated, “Garden Club sounds really cool, but I couldn’t make it to the Farmer’s Market, and I hope to make it to the next one.”
The most popular items were the lemons, as well as rosemary and sage.
Right now Garden Club is made up of 7th and 8th graders, but Ms.Thach would love some 6th graders to join. It is not too late.
Garden club is such a wonderful club teaching kids how to garden and learn responsibility. The tentative date for the next Farmer’s Market is February 19th after school. This time, they will be wearing their club t-shirts.
