Lawyers In The Making: Teacher’s Edition 1

HP VS HGHeather Tran, Kristen Fernandez, and Nikki Do

Bonjour madame and monsieur! 😀 Last week’s winner, winner, chicken dinner was DOGGIES. While we usually recruit kids from Stacey, this week is going to be a little different. It’s time for students to take a seat and for the teachers to step up!

From Panem to Hogwarts, here comes the ultimate battle of a lifetime: Hunger Games vs Harry Potter! Wizards and tributes, arm yourselves with wands, brooms, weapons, and bread; it’s time to fight!

Harry Potter : Mrs. Ortega, an 8th grade English teacher says, “Harry Potter is better, because Harry Potter was one of the first series that came along and encouraged students to read. I like the storyline; I like the classic good versus evil; I like the imagery that the author’s created and the fantasy world she’s created in her novel. And I like that students like the series and embraced it and it’s still loved today.”

Hunger Games : Mrs. Kleen says, “I believe that the Hunger Games is better because it’s more realistic than wizards and the magic of Harry Potter, and the movies are more action packed. So I prefer Hunger Games and I enjoy the books.”

We hope you enjoy this week’s edition and remember to vote on our poll! Happy Hanukkah, Kwanzaa, Christmas, and whatever other holidays celebrated. (Find out what other holidays are in December on the Cougar Chronicle!)

  1. I agree with Mrs. Ortega that Harry Potter is better because it has more of an interesting story line. J.K. Rowling created more than 400 characters that were put into 7 books. Most of the characters are deep, complicated and contribute so much to the story. Hunger Games has an okay plot but there is the stereotypical love triangle and it is so repetitive. In Harry Potter, my favorite character was James Potter because even though he was kind of a bully, he was young and he changed for true love. ❤
